I have been around in ancient times for quite a while now...And by that I mean, vikings, celts, knights and other medieval "whatever" times ,people are interested in..
I am always surprised by the things people make for themselves..
I listen and learn..and likewise, pass my knowledge on to others..

Wouldn `t it be nice if we showed our home-made things ..by putting pictures here..

I just finished my "medieval shoppingbag" , and a pair of highland shoes..

However, I have no idea how to put a pictue of them here..

And I am so looking forward to what other people might have made..be it a drawing, or clothing, or..well..anything..

you have a button named "Img" where you have to tye the URL of the picture and then click it again.

very creative, indeed: 12 posts in less than 2 hours

But in earnest: the Bundschuhe look very professional and I think, making them is much cheaper than buying them on the market ?

Thank you, however...making your own shoes is actually a lot more expensive that simply buying them..

First I had to buy the Pattern...which turned out to include 7 patterns for medieval shoes...€ 14,-

Then I went for some serious leathershopping...I choose second hand couchleather because it was only going to be a try-out. € 20,-

I also needed a leatherpin to make holes..€ 6,-

Doctorsbill ( for cutting up my thumb ) € 20,-

And hours work to create the shoes...and then I gave them away!


€ 60,- spent ...my own Highland shoes cost me € 25,- at the roman museum in Tongeren, fit me like a glove, and are made of durable strong and thick leather.

But hey, I just wanted to try if I could make them..and now I know I can.

But it's better to buy SHOES for 100€ up to 250€.
That's too expensive i think so the selfmade shoes should be enough..
